OK, well - 4.0 came out and I wanted to upgrade as a Christmas present to you guys. I downloaded a backup of the database beforehand, as always. I proceeded to upgrade then the database got screwed up due to not being configured properly and it rendered it useless. Then I go to restore from backup and find that the file was corrupted during the download. :(

So here we are - on v4.0 and we have to start over! You will need to re-register and re-make your topics if you wish. You can go ahead and make all your topics in this forum. They will be sorted and moved to the proper forums once we get them set up.

However, there is a glimmer of good news. I went back to re-download the database and although it is not usable in a web environment, the data is intact so we have all of the posts - which means valuable Topaz information was NOT lost! I feel confident that we will swiftly recover from this fiasco and be stronger than yet before! The important thing right now is for you guys to be active and go about your business normally.

I had to disable new threads because we were getting spammed by bots. I will find a way to make it require a post before you can make a thread like we had on the old forums. That kept out virtually all the bots.

So what do we have to do before we remake threads?

Yeah, I had most of our info backed up onto an external hard drive. Luckily we have the database info anyway, though, because we would have lost the Eeveelutions (hadn't backed that up fully yet.)

So Zero, if you could give me back admin status then I can start helping your to restore the forums.

This is your chance, Zero! Take over! -shot by IB-

The big everything file has a lot of it anyway. Do you have all the cries too, or does Pikang have them?

Don't worry, I have them all safe!

Well then... I guess this is really more of an annoyance than a major setback. For what it's worth, 4.0 looks nice.

You're admin now IB. I'm busy right now with Christmas stuff and all that jazz so I haven't gotten a chance to get anything done.

Thanks.

If anything it helped me decide what to do with the 499 already-read PMs in my inbox.

Instead of recreating the Base Stats and Movesets forums, I think we can just let those go as nice as they were for historical records, and we can have a "Topaz Officialization Box" for all officialized info (abilities, moves, items, egg groups, etc. etc.)

Also, unfortunately, that big everything file is a little outdated and my copy is also, though less so. I gave my father my external hard drive for a while and I've got a list of things "for backup" in a notepad, and somehow forgot to add certain things like Scyther/Scizor's dex entry as well as Tidasale's. Most of it is there though so we should be fine, especially since the old forum data is still somewhat accessible. My copy of the big everything file has up to the Flygon revamp, which is April 9th...

I wondered what happened to the forums. Well, great to hear that the database was saved, and hope to get everything back on track.

As for the question about new threads, it will be enabled again as soon as I figure out a way to make it require 1 post to create a thread. There is no MOD for it like there was for 3.8.

I was also considering making another usergroup and having people post to get thread making permissions. That's only if I can't figure it out.

SCYTHER uses its arms to slice through the thick brush in forests. Travelers often follow the paths they make to avoid walking through the foilage.

The eyelike markings on SCIZOR's claws give enemies the impression that it has three heads. Upon the sight of the snapping heads, most enemies will flee rather than fight.

I'm pretty sure they were something like this. I can't remember Tidasale's, though.

Hey everyone.

I hope we didn't lose all the Moveset/Stats listings in the snafu that happened here.

How about the trainer/PKMN sprites?

^Those you can still see if you just go to the regular website. They're still up IIRC.

Yeah, as long as the Topaz Photobucket doesn't die then we're going to be fine in the images department. And even then, I do have the front sprites and most of the back sprites backed up, as well as a fair few icons.

Getting the stuff I don't already have is going to be just a little annoying, because the database is difficult to read, and sometimes the CTRL + F comes up with multiple results. Here's to my good luck!

What about NPC lines? Are those all saved, or do I need those again? It's not a big deal if they weren't saved, they are pretty easy. Are you gonna put the Topaz faq up again?

EDIT: Hey, the stupid 30 minute editing time thing is gone!

The FAQ really should go up ASAP.
I always have all of my sprites saved on my computer as well as in my imgaeshack, so I can recreate my topic once I get enough posts... and there is an appropriate place created. :3

On a side note, is there also a required post count to change your avatar?

ImmunityBow

-No post count required, just that post in the privilege-granting topic.
