Roothaven City was constructed in the shade of an enormous tree. The tree's berries nourish the its citizens, and many people partake in spiritual pilgramages to admire the city's nature. While many claim Roothaven's tree produces the most delicious berries in the world, the city refuses to exploit the tree by selling the berries. Roothaven is also home to The Labyrinth, where the Maze Master fabricates puzzles for passing trainers.
Fernando, Roothaven's Gym Leader, is one of the foremost protectors of Roothaven's Great Tree. His love of nature has created a strong bond between him and his grass Pokemon, and many believe that he is capable of communicating with plants to bend them to his will.
