TRAPINCH is a patient POKEMON. It hides in the sand and waits for its oblivious prey.

TRAPINCH lies in half-buried sand, waiting for prey to accidentally walk in the way of its jaws. Because its mouth is more than twice the size of its body, it often takes a long time for it to swallow what it catches.

TRAPINCH lies in half-buried sand, waiting for prey to accidentally walk in the way of its jaws. Once it catches its prey, it will not open its jaws until it has swallowed completely.

An edit to the above. I'm fine with PokePoindexter's too, if people don't like this one.

Both are good, but need to be reworded. I can't think of how to do it though.

I think that works, less wordy and all.

Edit on my own....I forgot the word "to"

TRAPINCH lies half-buried in sand, waiting for prey to approach its jaws. After catching its prey, its jaws will lock until it has swallowed its/said prey.

Slight edit? More of a reference to the Leaf Cutter Ants they're obviously based on. (It could be a different species of ant I'm talking about, but you know what I'm on about.)

I think "until it has swallowed its prey" is sufficient:

TRAPINCH lies half-buried in sand, waiting for prey to approach its jaws. After catching its prey, its jaws will lock until it has swallowed its prey.

Is there a synonym that we could use to replace the 2nd "prey"? Also, I think that we need to get rid of the 3rd "prey" somehow. Maybe just "until it has swallowed"?

Something like:

TRAPINCH lies half-buried in sand, waiting for prey to approach its jaws. Once it has successfully trapped its quarry, its jaws lock until it has fully swallowed.

TRAPINCH lies half-buried in sand, waiting for prey to approach its jaws. Once it has successfully trapped its quarry, its jaws lock until it has fully digested.

Yes. That's a much better word.

I think victim would be better than quarry, which is a relatively obscure word.

TRAPINCH lies half-buried in sand, waiting for prey to approach its jaws. Once it has successfully trapped its victim, its jaws lock until it has fully digested.

Victim sounds a little malicious though. Prey would probably suit it best, though the word Prey is completely over used. You're choice really. Other than that, I'm fine with what we have.

But, but stealth pun!

Quarry of a Pokemon you find in the sand...

Ib's with the quarry thing. I just love when people put inside jokes in games :D

Quarry, I like.

Quarry is good, but before we close this, doesn't digestion occur in the stomach, not the mouth?

Black Temple Gaurdian

Venus Flytrap-esque I vote the same as above.

+1 to quarry. I do love me a good pun.

I don't think implies that the prey is digested in the mouth, just that the mouth stays locked.

Ok. What is it now, 9 or 10? More than 4, at least. Good turnout.

I counted 7, but I'd say that's enough. Besides, we should Always Be Closing.
