Happy New Year, everyone
So far, so good =3
The few of us left have been here a long time. In a few months I'll be done with college and I think I'll try my hand at coding this game. May as well see of 5 years of computer science can get us anywhere.
I is still here. Also have no excuse for not working on this other than depression is not letting me. Recap, what do have done?
Sprites, yes.
Moves, yes?
Abilities, phff no.
Region, yes.
Individual maps?
Plot?
Sound?
There's enough individual maps, plot, and sound for a release provided they are implemented. Abilities depends on which pokemon are in the demo (I think there's a list somewhere. If not I can make one.).
Getting eventing and scripting knowledge seems like the biggest hurdle.
Im still here, though its more so that I just check this site from time to time. Speaking of which, I am a little bit more versed in HTML and CSS, so if you guys want a site redesign I could probably work on doing that. Not to mention that the Topaz front page needs to be updated, 2012's a long while ago dont you think?
The more time that passes since the last SoT the more daunted I get trying to figure out how to write the next one. Suggestions? Should I just wipe the slate, say some stuff has happened but we're still getting on our feet again? Or should I wait for some kind of momentum to grow again?
Just make a post that gets new people up to speed on what is done and what isn't done in Topaz, and mention what the plans are for the future. I would also like to chime in again to say that a lot of the things on this website need updating, from the CSS to the current info on some of the homepages.
Well the state of Topaz hasn't really changed, sad as that is.
Just mention how due to major changes in updates of Pokessentials plus the novice skill level of our initial coders means we've been set back.
Aaand I'll get on actually updating topaz at the weekend.
Although can we not cut out the gen VI (IV?)+ pokemon, merely not include or reference them? Biggest problem I had last time I tried updating is the code calls on some of them so they not being there is... problematic.
Sadly, there hasn't really been much progress on Topaz (that I know of) for the past year. I say go with wiping the slate and saying we're getting on out feet again. Maybe we can try getting some traffic at Google+, the Pokemon communities over there seem pretty passionate about stuff.
Oh and we really need a thread on the Pokestarter forum.
You can probably alter what the national dex looks like. With a full programming language it's likely possible. After spending a bit of time with the software, it'll be far easier to do that then replace pokemon. The software just doesn't seem to like it.
Is it possible to add Pokemon to the end and then just change their numbers in the national dex then? We might also keep running into this problem with further updates/added generations, so it doesn't make sense to just keep changing the numbers every time we need to upgrade.
Do we need to give players access to the national dex?
Regional dexs (dexes? Dexi?) are already implemented.
