LAPRAS are calm and docile POKEMON which make great transport. Should one be angered however, it has enough strength to destroy even the largest of military vessels.

Military vessels can be replaced with boats.

LAPRAS are calm and intelligent POKEMON, being able to understand human speech. They carry people and small pokemon on their backs as transports to go to other places by water.

    This isnt good.

LAPRAS is one of the most ancient species of POKEMON still around today. There are cave depictions of people riding it for transportation dating 10 000 years ago.

I like it, but t seems a tad short. Also, instead of "dating 10000 years", why not "dating back to 10000 years"?

That works, too. I'd say that anything from 1.5 lines to 2 lines is pretty good.

True, maybe I just feel better when it's 2 lines. Ah well.

Liking that a lot actually. Is there a reason why there is a space instead of a comma in 10000 though?

I think outside of the United States thousands are shown with spaces instead of commas, especially in places like France where decimals are shown with commas instead of periods.

Ugh. Why can't we all come to a consensus: commas every 3 places, periods for decimals, and metric system for measurement? Everything would be SO MUCH EASIER!

Anyways, I like it. I'd personally like to see a couple more options, though. I'll try to think one up, because we all know how I like to try to beat IB.

I prefer the look of grouping in 3s with spaces myself. It's cleaner with nothing going below the line (commas)

LAPRAS is a calm and intelligent POKEMON that is often used for transportation across water. It has a soft, soothing voice that can even calm a PRIMEAPE.

LAPRAS is a calm and intelligent creature that is strong enough to transport people across water. Recordings of its soft, soothing voice are often used to calm wild POKEMON.

An edit of the one above. It would work best if there was a Lapras CD that lowers encounter rates.

LAPRAS is one of the most ancient species of POKEMON still around today. There are cave depictions of people riding it for transportation dating back over 9000 years.

    fix'd

I kid, but is there really any improvement in losing specificity?

I think there is; it is unlikely that the cave drawings could be precisely dated (think of the inaccuracy of carbon dating--sometimes different datings on the same item can differ by thousands of years)

But then there's at the very least a range, no? Over is even less specific than that.

LAPRAS is one of the first pokemon created by ARCEUS. Acient cave hypoglithicts depict people riding LAPRAS thousands of years ago.
I think 9000 wuld be a bit thrown out there so maybe thousands of years ago would work better.

No Arceus. Arceus is not in this game, and neither are any Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl, so NO ARCEUS.

    Tyran is correct.

Also, try to avoid referring to Pokemon not intially in Topaz. For example, a rejected entry I did for...Drakodo, I think, and I compared its jaw strength with that of Totodile, which isn't in Topaz at first.

ok then here is another try
LAPRAS is one of the most thriving ancient species of POKEMON still around today. Recently found cave hieroglyphics depict people riding LAPRAS thousands of years ago.
I'm quite enmbarrased about spelling hieroglyphics wrong. I just didn't have alot of sleep last night that's all.

Something seems wrong about that entry, I just don't know what. Also, don't be embarrassed about spelling hieroglyphics wrong, it's a hard word to spell (even I had to use Google Chrome's spell checker to get it right :P)

Also, read the bolded text just on its own. Do we want such a reference? Do we care?

This came up during the Ampure/Ohmure discussion and the consensus was that the dex entries are very serious and that references such as that detract from the idea of the Pokedex as a reliable source of information. After all, if people are laughing at the jokes placed inside, how will they ever treat our information seriously? As such I'd prefer 10 000.
