I think the benefits of consistency outweigh the faults, though feel free to argue otherwise.

Well, wouldn't there be different Pokemon in the river than in the ocean? Unless there are two different zones for those.

EDIT: MeekRhino, where did you get the tiles?

Currently, no matter where you fish in the Safari, you get the same Pokemon. I didn't make a Surfing list though somehow, so I guess we could do that right now and split it if you're intent on having two different zones. I warn though, it'll be very difficult to get a compelling variety of Pokemon.

I was actually suggesting they both be in the same zone. I should've been more clear.

I think you might be right IB; all clear water would be fine. I will remake with the same water and post the update when I can. I do think we need a surfing list though.

    @Tyran: I haven't the slightest idea.

You could try turning the transition into a waterfall.

I would love to do that. Only problem is I don't have the waterfall tiles. Also, you can't have a waterfall between two points of equal altitude(for lack of a better word)

Well, There are small waterfalls caused by rocks, so, maybe throw in some river rocks there? If anything, the rocks could serve as a buffer between the two, instead of needing a special tile for that conjunction.

Yeah, a lot better. Is that another Item Ball I see at the waterfalls bottom?

Personally, I still prefer the consistency of smooth water even at the bottom, but if no one else objects, it looks fine to me. The puddles and trees really add a lot more visual interest, though the area between the house the marsh and the beach seems a little bare. Maybe a couple of flowers here and there?

Sure thing. I will post an alternate with the smooth water everywhere so we can compare the two

EDIT: Here it is. Personally, I like it better with the ocean tiles.

I like the ocean tile one too. The smooth tiles seem to be meant for small rivers and ponds, not giant oceans/lakes.

One more thing, on the left side, could you extend part of the green onto the edge of the cliff? It looks very linear right now and if you extended 4-5 of those tiles i think it'd reduce some of the "border" look of the sand.

I think it will be better if you put some Berry trees instead of the trees on the up left corner (behind the rest house), making there a fruit farm, because it looks like a waste of space for just a single item...

There have never been berry trees in a safari zone in the past, and I'm not sure we are including berry trees in Topaz. If we are, I will be glad to put them in. Otherwise, the trees I put there are supposed to look like an orchard.

From what Fangking told me, it's easy to make GSC-style berry trees, but not RSE-style berry trees. This is because RPGMaker can run events off of your computer's clock, but without a lot of work can't calculate the amount of time that has passed since you last played. So GSC-style, where berries respawn at a certain part of the day, work, though it's exploitable since you can change your clock time. I don't think it matter that much though.

EDIT: I found a sprite. Not sure if this is what you wanted. Also, is this what you meant, IB?

Hey, I get some Berry Tree sprites, yours seems good, but you can get a lot of ideas with that ones, and about the growing problem, RPGMaker doesn't allow some kind of Battle Counter? Like: After X number of battles, the berries grow...

Can you stick some flowers or something in the orchard? It looks rather barren.

Yes, you did what I asked, but a little too much. Beneath the cliff there doesn't need to be any green, just on the edge of it.

So, my old computer currently refuses to turn on. As soon as I can get it to work, I will extract all of my Topaz files from it and get back to work on this.

Just finished transferring my old files over to my new computer, but I'm running into some technical difficulties. For some reason, when I open the gamemaker file in which I edit the maps, there are several errors across the maps. It keeps forcing some of the sprites behind others, such as randomly putting trees behind water or fence. It's incredibly annoying, and is preventing me from accomplishing anything. Even deleting the problem spites and replacing them has no impact on the issue; even if I place the tree second, it still ends up behind the water. I'm not sure how to solve this, and until I do there will be no progress I'm afraid.

[EDIT] Apparently it is a glitch only in the display, not the final image. So, I'm good to go.

How about trying to recreate them in RPG Maker XP? That way the map will be immediately usable for the programmer's use (and otherwise someone else would have to do just that anyway)

I'll give you 1000 internetz to recreate them in RPG maker XP for my programming use. And, if not me, Konrad, or anyone else who decides to show up and volunteer.

The title gives you a sense of people are now counting on you to contribute, they expect you to, in your mind. Thus, you work harder to meet those expectations, real or imaginary.

Well I have 0 idea how to use RPG Maker, nor do I have the money to spend on a license. However, I think that it is equally easy to simply take the full image of the map and add it as a single sprite. Plus I spent absolutely forever dividing the tilesets into individual sprites (since they never map them into a perfect pattern of 16x16 blocks; some of them will be halfway between, etc). So unless I absolutely have to convert, I'll keep going the way I am.

By the way, I currently have 3 completed and approved sections: Marsh/Ocean, Forest, and Ice. What should I pursue next? The desert? A mountain? Something else?

I'm pretty sure most people acquire a copy of RPG Maker in an unpaying fashion. It's also not too hard to make the switch from Gamemaker to RPG Maker.
