Default Backsprites: What Needs Editing and What Can Wait

    See title.

I don't know if anyone is going to come along and want to edit backsprites, but this does have to be done, as many of the ones up there aren't perfect. The list below is everything (IMO) that needs editing as of right now.
Note that very few of the sprites are actually official, but these are the ones that I feel are the worst quality and should be seen to first, or are really easy to fix. The list will be updated as time passes. Hopefully we can eventually get really good sprites before the game is fully programmed sometime in the future.

Embear--Just poor quality. Probably needs to be re-done.
Pythang--really shouldn't be a side view. Needs to be re-done.
Huskii--Head is a little large, shading issues.
Polara--snow on the shoulder is awkward
Khaphix--The lines are crooked, could use some cleaning up
Kuranpu--Needs to be smaller, too large comapred to other sprites.
Typhidna--Lacks the right number of heads. Should probably be re-done.

    FINISHED:
Kondria--The spikes on the head should make more of a crest (see Weavile for ref)
Tellure--Just sloppy. May need to be larger
    Iglonia--SOME black outlines.
Unicrown--Needs to face the opponent. Needs to be re-done.
Slowpriest--Probably just needs black outlines for now.
    Grizlare--Needs to be much larger
    Bakurge--Sloppy. Needs to be redone
Kunaiga--Sloppy, especially around the body and icicle area.

Also note, I authored most of these, so I can be harsh with my own work. If someone else's sprite is up for editing, I will be less harsh.

This will make a good reference list. Some I don't think many will have the guts to try to redo (Tellure, Typhidna and the like) so perhaps you can focus on those if you get some kind of inspiration? Otherwise I can try to help on some of the simpler stuff like Embear, Grizlare, etc.

That is the idea. I know that we don't really have too many members who can tackle some of the re-dos, but I figure if people know exactly what needs to be done, they can try out what they feel comfortable with.

But I am aware that it will likely be me who does many of these in the future.

I'll attempt re-doing Pythang, but I'm not making any promises of it being good. The maximum size is 80 x 80, right?

Unicrown, Tellure, Iglonia, Slowpriest and Kondria have all been finished. But if you would like to sure, you can try to help revamp/remake some of the backsprites on the list.

I dug through my imageshack to pull up the original, unsized Kuranpu. If someone wants to clean it up, I feel like this is a better size than what is up on the site.

    (Current size is: )

So you feel that the smaller size is better? I'm a fan of the bigger head of the current one, at the very least.

Just because Kuranpu is only 3'3", I feel like it shouldn't take up the whole box.

I take it as the Pokemon simply being closer to you.

I'd prefer the smaller one. In a double battle, it would look very strange to see Kuranpu that much larger than the other Pokemon. As it is, he looks like he could squash Typhinida without a problem.

But I think it'd be pretty obvious that Kuranpu was simply closer in perspective. Even in terms of front sprites, Typhidna should be a lot bigger than, say, Kunaiga, but they both pretty much take up the same amount of space.

I suppose Typhinida is an extreme example when compared to anything...
I wish that we could just use concept-art sized sprites and always have them to scale with each other...
In a double battle, the large one might look strange, but in a single battle the small one might look too small.

Alright IB, you've convinced me. I vote for giant Kuranpu.

Just my input on the sprite in the 4th of July summary, i personally like the bigger sprite as really small sprites always look bad to me :/ just my opinion for what it's worth
