As Vajra walked into the outskirts of Sunset Village, he didn't know whether to head onwards to the next Route or stay and look around...because in all honesty, he didn't see anything to do OTHER than looking around. He was desperately in need of some new Pokemon, though, even after catching a few on the previous Route, so he headed to the coast to look around. He spied a fisherman casting his rod out into the water, and considered asking him if he could borrow a spare Rod for his own uses...

[Cyndadile]

"You want a fishing rod? Ha! You don't look like you're ready for one." He paused and withdrew a pokeball. "Of course, if you insist, I'm gonna have to make sure that little motley crew of Pokemon you've got there can handle a real water Pokemon. Let's go, Jillian!"
He throws his pokeball, and a small blue eel-like creature pops out.

"I'm not afraid to get rough with my battles! Vivial, use Shine!"

Vivial nodded and consent and quickly went to work. Raising his arms, he shined with all his might, and then some. An almost audible blast emanated from the little Engil, where was all this light coming from? It... hurt! Critical Hit! Trillogill, hurt intensely by the attack, responded in kind, though not nearly as effectively.

"Whoa...I had to shield my eyes there! Use Shine again!"

The flying little Pokemon twisted in the air and collected his energy again. When he raised his arms again, it was accompanied by another burst of light. Even through closed eyelids, Vajra could see the brightness of the light. When he opened his eyes...

The fisherman was blinded for a moment, but when he lowered his hand from his eyes, he could just make out the limp form of his prized Trillogill. "No, Jillian!" he cried. He returned his Pokemon as he let loose a second. "You've got to get payback, Lily!"

"A Lotad? Those are here in this region? Ehh, I wouldn't get too cocky, man; they're not the most formidible Pokemon! Vivial, you've had enough! Switch out with Jein and let her use a Peck attack!"

[Cyndadile]

Jein's beak dug deep into Lotad's soft skin, and the water Pokemon let out a yelp of pain. Lotad let out a strange shriek, hoping to shock Jein into hurting herself, and... Jein wasn't impressed. Absolutely nothing happened.

"Heh, I love how Astonish attacks don't faze Normal-type Pokemon! Peck it again!"

Lotad tried once more to Astonish Fincherp, but Fincherp was completely unfazed. Calmly and happily Fincherp continued to peck leisurely at Lotad. She went about it for so long that Lotad ended up taking quite a bit of damage from the exchange.
