My second run in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. The game lets you make choices at key points in the story and these choices determine the layout of the rest of the game. There are three different routes you can take so I'm gonna play it once more to get the third.

My next planned game to play is FF III DS.

What's Radiant Dawn?

SilentSentinel
01-15-10, 12:27 AM
It's the sequel to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I've played through it once on our wii, and he's doing the second play. An excellent game, with a pretty high difficulty level when compared to the most of the others in the series. Also, units change class twice.

I loved Breaking Dawn... mostly. The plot was a bit dry, but it definitely gave me several play-throughs of awesome.

I'm redoing LoZ:Ocarina of Time (Virtual Console), Pokemon Peral (replay after deleting my previous game) and am working through Wii Sports Resort as well. I haven't had much time for games in the last little while...

I can't seem to find Radiant Dawn in any store D: . I guess it's to Craigslist for me.

SilentSentinel

It came out a few years ago. It's hard, the first FE where I didn't keep all of my units alive the whole time. The final boss is crazy hard.

Im still playing Chrono Cross on PS 1. I like the game even though PS 1 is not really like "popular" anymore.

ImmunityBow

That's really nice ragingprimeape. Path of Radiance's final boss was entirely disappointing... but that was on normal mode. I'm replaying through on Hard, though funnily enough I'm having a much easier time this time (probably because Oscar and Rolf somehow both have sky high defenses).

Chrono Cross was fun, though for some reason I just stopped playing and didn't start again, don't know why. It's soundtrack is AMAZING though!

Happy Brithday then, Nyte!

I'm playing Pokemon Quartz on my phone's GBA emulator. The guy who made it has a good sense of humor, and makes jokes about his own translation work. But some of the pokemon sprites are really bad, and I met a level 17 pokemon on the first route once.

awesome, i use mostly Lucario, Sonic, Link, Lucas (sometimes), and Snake, and am good with about 1/3 of the other characters...

and yeah, i did like SSBM a bit better, though i didn't like how most of the extra characters are copies of the main characters, only slightly different, like Pichu/Pikachu, and Link/Young Link, and even Cpt. Falcon/Ganon...as well as Mario/Dr. Mario...

Now I'm playing Shiny Gold on my emulator. It's a third gen revamp of gold version, and it's very well done. He added some rivals and storyline events and put some hoenn pokemon in certain routes. He also made trade evo pokemon evolve with items or by level up. Too bad HG/SS will make it obselite, because I really like it.

Also, the guy who made it credits Fangking Omega at the beginning. Who woulda thunk?

Spore. Alot of my friends don't like it, but I do.

What irritates me though is that Dr. Pepper promotion. I want the parts, but I don't drink Dr. Pepper. I finally got my friend to give me a code, but it was apparently for some iron man thing and won't work with spore. I don't want to do it, but I think I'll have to buy one myself and use it to water some plants for the code (I hear that soda can change some plant's flower color).

Just finished Super Paper Mario.

The story is mind-shatteringly good. I'm talking Final Fantasy level, less cheesy at certain points even. This is the videogame that makes the best use of love I've known in fiction, book, game, anything, has some great plot twists and excellent dialogue. And there's so much detail to the game it's amazing (you can point at the screen with the Wiimote and Tippi will comment on this, often hilariously). Each NPC has different things to say at all points of the game, each having to do with recent events and fitting with the personality Tippi explains to you. I don't know what it is about Mario RPGs but they are all masterpieces (Legend of the Seven Stars, Paper Mario, even Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga to some point, and now this one)

On to Portal, now!

SilentSentinel

Doing another playthrough of Fire Emblem 6. I'm trying to actually play it well this time, which means keep the characters alive, promoting units only once they reach level 20, and actually getting all the Divine Weapons instead of blazing through like last time. It's a fun game with a higher difficulty than Blazing Blade or Sacred Stones.

The next Fire Emblem game is apparently going to be a DS remake of FE3, the remake/sequel to the origional. That's cool I guess, but I'd rather see a remake of 4 and 5 combined into one huge game, or better yet, a whole new one. It is basically impossible to find a good translation patch for 5, and the best one for 4 only goes to about 80% through the game, nothing like how thorough 6's translation is.

Legend of the Seven Stars was much better in my opinion. You forgot ML Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside story. I thought that those were good.

Redoing some Professor Layton 2 puzzles to prepare myself for the third instalment in the series. Best puzzle game ever. I'm not even typically a fan of puzzle games, and Professor Layton is bordering on my favorite game.

@ragingprimeape: FE 4&5 in one game is impossible. FE4 is like 60 hours of gameplay in itself, FE5 is the hardest game in the series. FE6 was the best in the series though.

@Cyndadile: Legend of the Seven Stars was indeed excellent, one of my favourite games in fact. But the story wasn't as good and the best part of its dialogue was the pantomime, which isn't dialogue. Super Paper Mario does have a few advantages, interacting more with the environment is always a plus. I haven't played the two that you mentioned, so I didn't mention them.

SilentSentinel
08-18-10, 11:10 PM
Really? That's too bad. I've only played through about 1 chapter of FE4 because I got tired of not understanding what they are saying.

ImmunityBow
08-19-10, 04:49 AM
The thing about FE4 is that it's already two games in one, one with Sigurd and one with Celice. Also, each map has like 4-5 castles to seize, so each chapter (and the game is really difficult!) is 3-4 hours worth of gameplay. Many consider it to be the best in the series though. I find the whole breeding aspect rather creepy myself.

A few friends and I are doing a Fire Emblem Eliwood Hard Mod draft tournament.

You get 4-5 people, draft 7 characters and get Eliwood, Marcus, Athos and Merlinus for free, and that's your team. Undrafted characters can only trade, shop, rescue undrafted characters and find items in the desert. Winner is the person who completes the game in the least number of turns.

It's tons of fun! It's only been 4 days and I'm already on the final chapter (the joys of speedruns), which I'm waiting on for the moment. Marcus is ridiculously good, even now.

I finished the Fire Emblem draft in 229 turns with the team:
Eliwood
Marcus
Athos
Merlinus
(Those were the free characters)
Kent
Florina
Serra
Lowen
Pent
Isadora

Most of my choices were excellent. Serra was a little underwhelming (8 MAG on the final chapter!?) but still did tons of useful stuff and was generally nice to have around in a few chapters. Florina was extraordinarily underwhelming. I used the Angelic Robe, Energy Ring and Speedwings on her and she still turned out bad enough that I didn't field her in the final chapter. (Every stat besides HP was below Isadora). Every other character was ridiculously good except Isadora, who was merely decent (great for the first few chapters, then less impressive later). Eliwood benefited from Anima Tactician and Afa's Drops (he and Kent were the only characters I didn't promote early, him especially since he had a storyline promotion so it was late anyway) and so ended up getting ridiculous gains.

SilentSentinel
02-13-11, 06:56 AM
Priscilla owns Serra, every time. Isadora lacks enough con to take advantage of her speed. And Marcus in FE7 is underrated. When I first played FE I used him sparingly, and he actually ended up okay. And Florina is usually good, that's odd.

I busted out my White ROM again. I'm too impatient to wait until march.

I suck horribly at Fire Emblem games. When I started playing FE7, I abused the hell out of Marcus and he ended up getting all the level-ups. Then by the time I get to Wallace, him and Marcus are the only one capable of beating the bosses after that point.

So as I played more, my other chars were getting mowed down because I gave Marcus/Wallace all the exp. :(

@ragingprimeape: I would have loved to have Priscilla, but unfortunately my friend had first pick and drafted her before I could. (I made the mistake of second-picking Florina instead of Sain or Priscilla, both of whom would have been better additions in hindsight). Isadora was like 6th pick, was great for 4-5 chapters, and did fine with the Body Ring I gave her. On practically all counts she was better than Florina, and it was her or some loose character with low Move, which would have been bad with my huge number of mounted units.

@Zeroality: I know that's how everyone thinks of it, but that's not really how it happened for me. I Marcus-skipped more than half of the game, and practically all my units turned out fine, even though I was on Hard Mode. I abused Marcus so bad I was pretty worried that all my characters would suck. However, a few things prevented it from really screwing me:
- Marcus with a Dracoshield turns out fine stat-wise for the whole game.
- Once Marcus stopped pulling the entire game by himself practically, Pent comes in and rocks.
- When that's not enough, Harken came in and was equally ridiculous (especially with Boots)
- Lowen and Kent managed to keep up most of the time and earn themselves a lot of EXP.
- When you have only 5 characters that actually need experience (Eliwood, Lowen, Kent, Florina, Isadora), there's more than enough to go around.

Remember, I was doing a speed run, so I was going to 1-star EXP rank anyway.

Oh, you drafted characters. That explains some of the choices then. It would seriously suck to not end up with a healer of some sort, but Marcus is great for hard mode. I think you just got unlucky with Florina though.

ImmunityBow
02-13-11, 11:21 PM
I know I got unlucky with Florina, but it probably more has to do with the fact that the draft didn't allow Lyn Mode and so Florina was woefully underlevelled and fragile when I got her. She's already so fragile in Lyn Mode I feel like ditching her, now with one Angelic Robe's worth less of HP and beginning on the fifth chapter at level 2, I was lucky I could even use her for flier utility (which she was decently useful for, just not able to skip past chapters with).

I do have to say though, Pent is a first-pickable character now that I've played through (A staff rank and 21 base magic is enough to make anyone immediately first-pickable) and I got him fifth, which kind of blows my mind in hindsight. Harken was awesome but made me wait so many turns on the Pale Flower of Darkness level. I think the peace of mind makes up for the turns he lost though.

I must say, I have no idea what the dream world and extralink and that stuff is.

zeroality
03-07-11, 03:57 AM
Dream World is where Pokemon can have abilities that they normally would not get otherwise. It's a very popular metagame on Pokemon Online. Let me list a few examples, based off of the usage statistics.

Chandelure gets Shadow Tag (probably going to be banned to Ubers in DW due to this, as it makes a number of Pokemon completely non-viable)

Tyranitar gets Unnerve - Preventing the opponent from using their berries can be useful.

Blaziken gets Speed Boost - Combined with Baton Pass, this has become one of the most used setup Pokemon.

Breloom gets Technician - Mach Punch being boosted. What more could you ask for? Not to mention the 30% paralyze Force Palm.

Conkeldurr gets Iron Fist - All punch moves being boosted. HURR DURR

You get the idea. These Pokemon can only have these abilities in Dream World.

Another thing worth noting that you may not know is that the Eviolite is an extremely useful held item that adds 50% to both Def and SpDef for ALL Pokemon that have an evolved form.

So that means it will work on Happiny and Chansey, but not Blissey. Chansey is actually used more than Blissey now, thanks to this.

ImmunityBow
03-07-11, 04:04 AM
In any other metagame Eviolite wouldn't make any difference for the Chansey/Blissey debate since Blissey took no Special damage regardless, and 50% more defense doesn't make too much difference on 5 base and less HP, whereas 55 base Sp. Atk would. But I guess B/W is past the point of the infinite special wall now... And Seismic Toss doesn't care about Sp. Atk either, too, I guess.

zeroality
03-07-11, 04:26 AM
Yeah, there are tons of Pokemon that have been greatly improved by it in UU and LC.

Same thing with Porygon2 getting more usage than Porygon-Z due to the Eviolite. Porygon-2's defenses become akin to Lugia's, and it has reliable recovery due to Recover, status in Toxic or Thunder Wave, and even a way to boost Special Attack in Charge Beam if you so choose.

It's like that in every game though. I mean just before this I spedran practically all of Fire Emblem 7 with Marcus and still ended up with several characters who could dominate late-game (Lowen, Kent, Pent, Harken, Eliwood).

Radiant Dawn's beginning kind of reminds me of Fuuin no Tsurugi's hard mode. Of course, it's way easier (why are there 32 HP Fighters in the first chapter when all your characters deal 7 damage?), but at least in that game you get Old Marcus from turn 1, plus two excellent cavaliers.

I've been quite obsessed with League of Legends. It's a great game, and the best part is it's free. It's a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) although that title is a bit of a misnomer. I can't really explain to someone that hasn't played a similar game before (e.g. DoTa, HoN), without simply suggesting that you watch some gameplay on youtube. LoL is made by Riot Games Inc, and they are dedicated to improving the game through weekly or every-other-weekly patches, which include introducing new playable champions and continuous balance changes. If you are looking for a game that can be repeatedly fun, this is a good one to look into. I have never been entertained by a single game for this long; since early november!

Whew, finally finished Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Maybe it was a mistake not to use a walkthrough while playing, since there's so much random crap that just leads to your guys dying by the end. The final boss, with no warning or anything, will suddenly attack massively out of their range and kill one of your weak units. I had to let the units go, and I hadn't lost a single unit until the last battle D:.

Also, since I didn't know how that game was going to go, I ended up parsing out the experience way more than I should have, and ended up having too few "monster" units who I could just let be and not have them die. The game tries to make up for this by giving you lots of laguz royalty but you really need 15-17 massively good characters. Beyond the laguz royalty I only really had Ike, Boyd and Rolf who could hold their own (but those three were basically as good as laguz royalty, which is good I guess) and the rest required lots of babying, which is okay in most games but not in a game with levels where enemies can teleport from anywhere on the map and swarm your weak unit.

Other than the end part, I think it's my favourite game in the series. The Dawn Brigade part is massively fun since everyone sucks so bad, and it's nice that sometimes you literally had to play two sides of a fight one chapter after the other. There are also so pretty powerful decision moments like when you have to split the entire team up into three groups (and I made the mistake of thinking that it would last a lot longer than it did, and thusly parsed the exp out way too much).

Anyway, back to LoL and Desperadoes. I've also been playing a bit of a flash game called Sword & Potions, which has some bad elements (money-grubbing) but somehow I still enjoy it.

I think you meant Radient Dawn. But I digress.

I'm playing through on normal (for the first time) and I have to say it's a lot more fulfilling. Though I have let several units die...

Yes, IB, there is some planning involved with getting to the last level, as I have found out. Since the first time I played, I've kept the number of units allowed in the last level in my head, as well as a list of the units you have to bring. That way, I only train enough units to the higher levels, and end up with a much stronger force overall.

I counted the final promoted units I had, it was 26.

I also started on Epic Mickey, since I looked all over for Okami and couldn't find it (and I wasn't going to look for 2 years straight like I did for Radiant Dawn) so I bought Epic Mickey since I heard the story was amazing and it also is a cool painting platformer. I went to the store and it was $37 used, but while I was trying to buy it the teller at EB couldn't find any of the discs, which was weird since the boxes were on display everywhere. Then it turned out it was because there was a sale where they were selling new copies for $20 so that kind of made my day there.

That's pretty cool. Does it follow the movie, radio show, tv series or books?

Cyndadile
03-17-12, 12:46 AM
A brilliant question. Allow me to direct you to a passage of Douglas Adams' "A Guide to the Guide":
The radio series began in England in March 1978. The first series
consisted of six programs, or "fits" as they were called. Fits 1 thru 6.
Easy. Later that year, one more episode was recorded and broadcast,
commonly known as the Christmas episode. It contained no reference
of any kind to Christmas. It was called the Christmas episode because
it was first broadcast on December 24, which is not Christmas Day.
After this, things began to get increasingly complicated.
In the fall of 1979, the first Hitchhiker book was published in
England, called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was a
substantially expanded version of the first four episodes of the radio
series, in which some of the characters behaved in entirely different
ways and others behaved in exactly the same ways but for entirely
different reasons, which amounts to the same thing but saves
rewriting the dialogue.
At roughly the same time a double record album was released,
which was, by contrast, a slightly contracted version of the first four
episodes of the radio series. These were not the recordings that were
originally broadcast but wholly new recordings of substantially the
same scripts. This was done because we had used music off
gramophone records as incidental music for the series, which is fine
on radio, but makes commercial release impossible.
In January 1980, five new episodes of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to
the Galaxy" were broadcast on BBC Radio, all in one week, bringing
the total number to twelve episodes.
In the fall of 1980, the second Hitchhiker book was published in
England, around the same time that Harmony Books published the
first book in the United States. It was a very substantially reworked,
reedited and contracted version of episodes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, S and 6
(in that order) of the radio series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy." In case that seemed too straightforward, the book was called
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, because it included the
material from radio episodes of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the
Galaxy," which was set in a restaurant called Milliways, otherwise
known as the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
At roughly the same time, a second record album was made
featuring a heavily rewritten and expanded version of episodes 5 and
6 of the radio series. This record album was also called The Restaurant
at the End of the Universe.
Meanwhile, a series of six television episodes of "The Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy" was made by the BBC and broadcast in January
1981. This was based, more or less, on the first six episodes of the
radio series. In other words, it incorporated most of the book The
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the second half of the book The
Restaurant at be End of the Universe. Therefore, though it followed
the basic structure of the radio series, it incorporated revisions from
the books, which didn't.
In January 1982 Harmony Books published The Restaurant at the
End of the Universe in the United States.
In the summer of 1982, a third Hitchhiker book was published
simultaneously in England and the United States, called Life, the
Universe and Everything. This was not based on anything that had
already been heard or seen on radio or television. In fact it flatly
contradicted episodes 7, 8, 9, 10, I 1 and 12 of the radio series. These
episodes of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," you will
remember, had already been incorporated in revised form in the book
called The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
At this point I went to America to write a film screenplay which was
completely inconsistent with most of what has gone on so far, and
since that film was then delayed in the making (a rumor currently has
it that filming will start shortly before the Last Trump), I wrote a
fourth and last book in the trilogy, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.
This was published in Britain and the USA in the fall of 1984 and it
effectively contradicted everything to date, up to and including itself.
As if this all were not enough I wrote a computer game for Infocom
called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which bore only fleeting
resemblances to anything that had previously gone under that title,
and in collaboration with Geoffrey Perkins assembled The Hitchhiker s
Guide to the Galaxy: The Original Radio Scripts (published in England
and the USA in 1985). Now this was an interesting venture. The book
is, as the title suggests, a collection of all the radio scripts, as
broadcast, and it is therefore the only example of one Hitchhiker
publication accurately and consistently reflecting another. I feel a
little uncomfortable with this – which is why the introduction to that
book was written after the final and definitive one you are now
reading and, of course, flatly contradicts it.
Or, a much shorter passage of that passage:
I wrote a computer game for Infocom
called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which bore only fleeting
resemblances to anything that had previously gone under that title
(Keep in mind that this was all written prior to the release of the fifth book)
And this is why Douglas Adams is so awesome.

Okay, yeah i think galladester's beaten everyone there: Trials Evolution. Pretty badass there. although something that i think might end up rivaling it: Minecraft. I've played some of it (just bits and pieces) and I like it. Though if you go to my xbox profile online you'll see the various games i've played (and that's not all the ones i've played on the 360 just the ones played online recently) oh and 1 original Xbox game in perfect condition.
Ironically the original Xbox game that i played was bought, literally, 2 days before the announcement of it's anniversary. Halo CE and Halo CE Anniversary. (I had played the 1st one about 2 or 3 months prior to him getting it on the 360, that is before my pc died cause I can't currently play the game till it's fixed.)

I have become obsessed with Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. Lute is amazing. <3

ImmunityBow
06-12-12, 03:53 AM
Ah, just did an FE:SS draft a while ago. I didn't draft Lute but my Artur basically won me that draft. He was the only character I had that could destroy waves of things until I promoted Kyle, and then later on in the game I used his 25-26 Magic to warp Myrrh and managed to complete each of the last chapters in 1-3 turns.

SilentSentinel
06-12-12, 03:59 AM
Sacred Stones is a great Fire Emblem to start with. It also has a lot of similar mechanics to the newly released Fire Emblem Awakening.

Speaking of Fire Emblem Awakening, the game has been announced for localization! I won't have to import a Japanese version!

I'm doing an FE7 EHM draft right now. Once Pent gets that Warp Staff...

Cyndadile
06-12-12, 12:27 PM
I'm glad I started with Sacred Stones, then. Actually, the reason I started it was because it looked similar to Pokemon Conquest, and I wanted to see if I'd like that game.

The reason that I like Lute is that she never dies. I'm not sure why. Also, she's a mage, and mages are awesome.

I'm beginning to like Arthur, but at first he didn't seem to do nearly as much damage as Lute.

Silver
06-12-12, 01:40 PM
I fineshed sacred stones using only artur, ross, joshua, ewan, and natasha, good game

ImmunityBow
06-12-12, 03:15 PM
There are certain things about Sacred Stones that are a little off-putting though. Creature Campaign/Tower of Valni are awesome for after you finish the game, but Valni-grinding can make the game a little easy if you decided that you want to get to some of the basement levels for phat l00t, and it really doesn't help that Seth can basically solo the whole game by himself while rescuing Eirika for half of it. It's also got fewer characters and is pretty short. What is nice though, is branched promos and that each of the characters gets some stuff to say and development within the story, which is a lot more than can be said for a lot of the other FEs (FE6, FE11, FE12, even Radiant Dawn to some extent).

I finished the game in 180 turns? You probably took that long grinding Ewan to a point where he was usable haha.

Oh, and I did an FE7 EHM draft for my first draft. I ended up losing by three turns because I had to wait two-three turns for Harken, and because I brainfarted and drafted Serra over Priscilla in a team full of Cavaliers/Paladins D: Didn't help that my Florina was ridiculously strength-screwed that whole game.

Cyndadile
06-12-12, 04:25 PM
Seth is pretty awesome. I'm having a lot of trouble with chapter 6 (place with the fog where you have to rescue people); I've had to restart around 20 times. Clearly, I don't know what I'm doing. I could use somewhere to level up my people.

ImmunityBow
06-12-12, 08:28 PM
Yeah, that's one of the tougher early maps. I'd say probably the only harder map is Ephraim route Ghost Ship which is actually infuriating. For the draft I didn't bother with saving the civilians, it would have taken too many turns and I didn't have Vanessa. If your Vanessa is strong you can just send her there. Be very careful about sending Franz out too far because of the various weapons that are strong against cavalry. I ended up placing Colm in a safe spot on the hills so that he could see incoming threats, then using a formation to keep frailer units like Eirika at the back or in the centre, and putting more resilient units like Joshua in front. Once you reach the fortresses stick it out there and make very good use of vulneraries, and careful for the reinforcements flanking your back.

I beat the map on hard mode with just Eirika, Artur, Colm and Joshua in 9 turns. With Seth, Franz, Vanessa, and actual healers like Moulder and Natasha you should have enough of a formation to keep most of your fragile units safe. After chapter 8 you'll have infinite Tower of Valni grinding to level up your units, so just stick it out until then.

SilentSentinel
06-12-12, 10:00 PM
There's a runthrough of Sacred Stones Hard Mode where all characters have 0% growth rates (so your only method of increasing stats is statboosters), and Seth was shown to still beast mode the entire game through the end. He completed the game in this manner in 119 turns somehow.

The same guy has done 0% growth runs of 6, 7, 10, and 11 as well, but 8 was the best turncount (which makes sense as it is the shortest). I didn't like how short Sacred Stones was, but the postgame stuff was a nice addition.

Silver

Seth is just a short way of saying overpowered...

People say Marcus is Just as powerful, but I find Kent and Sain are beasts, oh and Hector!

ImmunityBow
06-14-12, 11:58 PM
FE7 Marcus is truly amazing, but not gamebreaking. He's awesome early and easily the best unit until something like Chapter 26 or so, but yeah Kent and Sain catch up. Especially if you went through Lyn mode and promoted Sain, Sain might even catch up earlier. FE6 Marcus, on the other hand... (Well, he's kind of necessary for Chapter 1 at least, those 32 HP Bandits that 2HKO all your units)

And heath...

also just got latios on rumble blast. adding to list of of overpowered beasts...

ImmunityBow
06-15-12, 03:32 PM
I actually don't like Heath that much. He comes really late, with kind of bad speed and it's a chapter that you can do in 3 turns by just killing Eubans. And he looks kind of weird. And you get Isadora that map! She's pretty useful for a little while! Serra would be nice if not for a couple things: Lucius gets C staves on promote, Pent is already an amazing staff user/magic nuke and Priscilla has a horse. That said she's still not half bad.

Word of advice for Ephraim's route. Duessel is INSANE on that route. He's pretty bad in Eirika's but on Ephraim's he's basically Seth #2. Have fun with your unkillable steamrolling tank :)

Cyndadile
06-19-12, 03:52 PM
Yeah, well I've been having trouble on Eirika's route because I won't let people die, but Arthur keeps getting himself killed. I mean, Arthur one-hits a dozen guys in a row, than a person with 10% chance of hitting and 10% chance of critical hit comes and takes him down. It's kind of frustrating.

By the way, happy late birthday!

ImmunityBow
06-19-12, 11:37 PM
Yeah Arthur's really fragile. In the last bunch of chapters I basically never put him into combat and instead used him to warp Myrrh around. Yeah, my Ephraim ended up at level 3 promoted since he basically didn't do anything after the desert chapter. Myrrh basically did everything once she was strong enough to handle things.

I made a really sad mistake where I tried to enchant my already crazy overpowered weapon (133 life on hit fastest attack speed rifle with good DPS) and it removed all the enchantments. Then I sold it and thought there would be other good weapons in the shop but the two good ones I had seen before weren't in the shop any more.

Woah woah woah are you kidding me did I miss the ENTIRE discussion on Sacred Stones? I've been kinda half-marathoning the games because Awakening is out next month (just pre-ordered it) and I got FE7 just last Christmas (I used to play it on emulator).
And yet even with all the games I've never finished I recently finished off my second Sacred Stones run and I'm just starting my third! I went through both modes on normal first, and I'm doing an all-mounted Eirika HM run now. Well, mostly mounted. I'm not using Seth because I don't like his archetype in general and despite his beastliness I hate to use him, and I'm saving Duessel and L'Arachel for my Ephraim HM run of 'rightful Sacred Twin owners' where I paired off the weapons to people that can use them that are from that nation. I've planned out my playthroughs to a T.
Except chapter 5 is proving a pain in the ARSE at the moment because Neimi is fragile and that one try where she didn't die and I was almost done Franz died in the arena because he missed (with 80%) and got hit by the knight (with like what, 40%?). I've been so messed over by hit rates in this game even in the first 5 chapters of hard mode and then I decided to take a break and play Path of Radiance instead.
I'm playing 3 other Fire Emblem games right now, 2 of which (FE7,FE9) are in the 2- chapters, FE12 which is on like prologue vi and then there's Shadow Dragon that's on the final chapter that I can't even be fluffed to try. And I plan on finishing all these by Awakening release.

Don't even ask me how I have time to sprite I'm a bit confused by this as well.

ImmunityBow
01-15-13, 06:15 PM
Heh, yeah one of the awesome things about Fire Emblem is that everyone can play it in their own way. Do you even have to use the arena though? Tower of Valni is a fair amount safer if you're looking for the extra experience, and otherwise unless you're using trainees and more units than necessary experience isn't really even that much of an issue. I find archers in general not named Rolf or Shinon are more trouble than they're worth. Louise is also fine I guess and Rebecca if you want to deal with getting her to the necessary level becomes pretty good afterward. But Neimi, Wolt, Dorothy, Wil, Leonardo, all of them take like forever to level since usually you can only get experience on the player phase.

Cyndadile
01-15-13, 06:22 PM
I need to get my own copy of Sacred Stones, I really enjoyed it (although I never finished). But maybe I'll just settle on getting Awakening at some point, I didn't realize it was coming out so soon.

This Christmas I got pretty much every Sonic game on Steam, so I started raising Chao in Sonic Adventure 2 (Knuckles levels are awesome in that game) and have been going through Sonic 3 & Knuckles as Knuckles.

A also got Pokemon White 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Psychonauts, Left 4 Dead, and The Walking Dead, but I haven't really started them. I have enough games to last me until next Christmas.

NyteFyre
01-15-13, 06:28 PM
I got Paper Mario: Sticker Star as well. I've more or less finished it. In my opinion, it's great as a stand-alone game, but it doesn't really compare with the first 2 Paper Mario games in the series.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, i still have my GC version of that! The Chao take forever, but are cool. I prefer Sonic and Shadow levels, though Knuckles' are cool too. I also have the first 4 sonic games and the knuckles equivalents for the DS.

I'm probably the only one here who has never and will never play a FE game.

01-16-13, 07:07 AM
@IB: I don't have to go to the arena but I do like the extra cash and Franz is pretty good at it. Plus Natasha needs to small healgrind that comes with it. I don't use archers often, but seeing as this is an all-mounted run I'm going with Neimi as ranger. She's not a bad archer at all, about the same as Rebecca, she just takes a bit longer to get out of her habit of dying. I get a Dragonshield this chapter, so she's probably getting that, seeing as how Lute can hold her own a lot better. Also, Rolf, Shinon and Rebecca are NOTHING if you've ever played Shadow Dragon and used Norne. Holy crap Norne.
