That's true! There are quite a lot of frustrated spambots in that 1000 though.

The way fangames like Topaz work is that many people sign up to see if they can download the game that way, and aren't actually interested in posting.

Member retention is quite the important thing for a community, but we gave most of that up when we decided that we weren't Pokerealm. Not an awful thing (we have very few trolls compared to most forums, and we probably actually still get more work done) but community-wise it means that we're a little barren.

I personally see nothing wrong with a small community. To me, the smaller it is the easier it is to integrate everyone into more things and not have "cliques" forming. I just find that smaller grouped places tend to be less intimidating and more welcoming. :p

I totally agree. I don't really want to have a community here with 1000 active people. I'd get claustrophobic, drown, and probably leave. I just think that people should not be joining if they do not plan to do anything here.

A good reason:

Which is also why I use different passwords for all of my important stuff, and a normal password for all the stuff that I don't really care about.

Still, though, 1000 is an impressive landmark.
Although, we may have had over 1000 at the old forums. I'm not sure.

Definitely. I probably sound very cynical, but I'm really not. I just always seem to sound pessimistic when I try to say something.

I was just looking for a place to mention, out of over 1300 members of Topaz, less than 200 posted at least once. How does that happen?

Huh. Maybe I should read things like that more often.

Acanthite was far far worse before Charlie pruned all the bots and zero-posters. XD around 1200 members and around 600 are bots and there are only about 50 active members. Kinda sad really.

That's become such a problem at Acanthite that the mods warn for asking about the game's release. :P

Yeah, it happens everywhere. I know people have pmed me here asking for where the game download is. At OI, some people join asking if there's a real game, then we have to tell them its a text rpg and not a real game and they get mad and leave.
