New Gym Leader Naming Poll

The process is simple enough IMO. Choose one of the options for each.

There were more options, but I chose what seemed to be the most popular. IF there was an option you think should have been included, post your choice below instead of one of these. But to speed things along, please only do that if you find neither of these choices to be satisfactory. REMEMBER, we can come back to these in the future when we are further along in the process, so these results wont be set in stone.

Well, don't take my word for this, but I think I heard somewhere about a fictional vampire named Vlad. There was also a show called Danny Phantom, and one of the villains (who was a ghost) was named Vlad. Also, something about it seems to fit with the ghost type. I don't know what it is, it just seems to work.

I think Vlad is a creepy name. Vladmir is creepier though.

Aura is ghosty (having aura).

Edgar Allan Poe is a creepy guy. Edgar would be a better choice, though.

Dragon - Wolfe (I like it better than plain old George.)
Poison - None of them. I don't like Bella at all...
Rock - Crys (I'd rather it be a female, or a guy with a really cool name.)
Normal - Erik seems to strike my fancy with this one.
Ghost - Vlad is a bit simple, and overdone, but i would be happy with Vladimir.

I get the reasoning behind Aura, but find it a very undesirable choice. It sounds like it could be Light or Psychic-type, instead of Ghost. It's one of those names people give to their fanfic female leads when they want them to seem special. Also, there are very few actual people named Aura in the world. I know you can say the same about some of the other names, but combined with everything else Aura's my least favourite choice.

Probably not much better, but....maybe Erie (from eerie, obviously) or failing all else (and only if Crys is the Rock gym leader's name), Casper? Or Shadi or Shadrach, from shade? There's really not much you can use for Ghost gym leaders that isn't punny or obscure....

I can leave ghost out of it for now. People can still vote so that we have a placeholder name, but we can continue further naming business in this thread and move on in the other.

I think most people who are actually active have voted, but I'll leave it open for another day or two.

The margins on all the results were pretty close, so I just want to emphasize that these ARE NOT set in stone. But for the purposes of discussion outside of this thread, we have names to use.
Obviously, the Ghost E4's name will have to have further discussion to determine what it should be, but if any new suggestion come out of the woodwork for any of these, we can have another round of voting in the future.

Well, if you can find another name that garners more support, then your friend Bella doesn't have to be in the game.
I think the most pressing things are:
A) Jayne or Jane?
B) The ghost e4's name. I'd like to suggest further brainstorming for this, simply because something else might be more unanimous then one or two people switching votes.

I do like Vira, but it would certainly be advantageous if it didn't end with an "a" sound since we're pretty set on Layla and Therma and Christina (and then potentially Aura).

But, since I'm on the topic, are we concerned with gender balancing? Caldera is 4:2 men to women. The E4 has 2:0 and Water not yet with an established gender and Ghost not yet named. Kirant is currently 2:3 with Rock not yet established.

I mean, it will be close no matter where things fall but if people really care, it can be perfectly balanced.

@Reli: I think that gender balancing should be an issue. I don't mind so much on the specific landmasses, but I think there should be 6:6 gym leaders and 2:2 elite four.

Uh why? I'm all for gender balancing but that seems a little... lame. I mean, why would there be EXCATLY 50/50?

I think gender balancing is unnecessary. As for Jayne/Jane, I'm a fan of Jane because there's no real need for adding "y"s to a nayme which already so strongly connects to the type. Jane resonates strongly with "Plain Jane," yet it's not overly obvious, like something like "Casper" for ghost would be. Adding a y adds a further layer of detachment that I don't believe is necessary.

Aw, I didn't get to post early enough to put in my choice. I've always thought we needed a Dark-type gym leader, what with all the new Dark-types available.

That aside, I like IBow's theory. Remind me again which leader is getting replaced?

Layla's being downgraded to the final Gym Leader, and should fill all your Dark-type needs. She's incidentally the one that's being replaced, too.
