Post ideas for Remoraid here.
REMORAID have the ability to fire many projectiles from their mouths. Thugs often use them to threaten people due to their close resemblence to a firearm.
REMORAID are primarily predatory hunters, but will scavenge scraps from larger pokemon. They use their water gun attack to knock bug pokemon into the water where they feed upon them.
REMORAID are often seen clinging to the bottoms of MANTINE. Recent studies have shown that MANTINE feed them and keep them around because they contain a chemical that makes MANTYKE evolve.
REMORAID is often found following MANTINE in order to eat the scraps of whatever the MANTINE eats. They do this because they are not very good predators, and can only eat small portions.
Remember, there is no Mantyke in Caldera/Kirant, so don't bother bringing it up.
A little simple, but explains the Pokemon well. Here's a bit of an edit for flow
REMORAID is often found attached to MANTINE, eating leftover scraps. Though not a good predator or scavenger, it has long thrived due to this simple method of nourishment.
I like it +vote
On second thought, I think it would be better like this
REMORAID is often found attached to MANTINE, eating leftover scraps. Though not a good predator or scavenger, it has long thrived due to this mutualistic relationship.
Mutualistic isn't a word, at least according to Firefox's spell checker. I think you're looking for symbiotic, which is a fine replacement though it doesn't seem much better.
Mutualism is a form of symbiosis (in the same group as parasitism, adj. form parasitic). Mutualistic is a scientific term which poor firefox doesn't know. Trust me, it is a word.
Dictionary.com agrees with MeekRhino; it is a word.
Win! Lol, I kid
What advantage does mutualistic have over parasitic? (As in what are the differences?) Now that I think about it symbiosis doesn't work because Remoraid doesn't actually help Mantine.
Another thing: I just realized Mantine isn't part of Caldera/Kirant (it was in a draft list but was cut). Is it possible to work in the idea that Remoraid has become independent somehow?
Hmmm. BTW, I was under the opinon that mantine benefited from the relationship; that's why I said mutualistic. A better way to say it would be "commensalistic" which is an even less recognized word that means one of those involved benefits, while the other is unaffected.
Without mantine, remoraid is kinda boring......I can't think of anything.
For thousands of years, REMORAID has relied on MANTINE to find food. In recent times, however, the disappearence of MANTINE in the oceans near CALDERA and KIRANT have left REMORAID to fend for itself.
A bit long, but the only idea for remoraid I can think of in a world without mantine.
IB prefers that we don't even mention the pokemon not included in Topaz
I know, but I think that remoraid needs to be an exception. Remoraid and mantine are completely intertwined. In fact, I'd consider adding mantine or replacing remoraid.
Also, this way, if we add mantine in a later patch, we could make a sidequest where you investigate its disappearence.
Cool idea, that last one. I'm up for it.......but there aren't nearly enough feathers in my cap. Wait for IB. He has lots of feathers.
That he does.
Agreed, Mantine and Remoraid are so intertwined that it's difficult not to have at least some mention of Mantine in Remoraid's entry. It is a little long though, so just to cut it down a bit:
For millenia, REMORAID has relied on MANTINE to find food. In recent times, the disappearance of MANTINE in the oceans near CALDERA and KIRANT have left REMORAID to fend for itself.
I also like the idea of a sidequest investigating the disappearance of Mantine. It would have to wait until after the E4 so that it could go into the National Dex, but otherwise it seems good.
Great. +vote

+1 vote obtained!
Wooooo that's 5! If IB counts
Sure:
