my turn for a riddle now:
I've been around since the first generation.
I cannot be used in a certain game unless I am first.
My counterpart is also from the same generation and we both have evolutions.
Who am I?

I don't think there's enough information there to pin it down to one Pokemon. But for some odd reason I'm tempted to go with Omanyte.

The "I am first" part is the one that seems too ambiguous to me.

no, it's not from a fossil...
it's been a while so i forget if you needed to trade for it in FRLG or if you could still get both
i know i got it in LG for certain (i traded for it with some dude)

just occured to me there's another clue i'd give but it's kind of a giveaway as you could narrow it down to like 5 pokes before getting this right...

and technically hitmonlee and hitmonchan's pre-evolution version is still called an evolution due to GSC....

as for the pokemon it is very interesting since it's partner has an evolution and it comes with a female version.....

My counterpart is also from the same generation and we both have evolutions.---Jynx's counterpart is Mr. Mime, Jynx's evolution (or as someone's pointed out pre-evo) is Smoochum {2nd Gen.}, while Mr. Mime's is Mime Jr.{4th Gen}

and a question that I must ask after having caught a Mime Jr. is this: why does Mime Jr. have a female version when Smoochum already exists?
Mr. Mime is pure male, Jynx is pure female therefore a female Mime Jr. cannot evolve... (or at least not into a Mr. Mime anyway)...

ACTUALLY Mr. Mime can be female... 50/50 chance. Jynx, however, is only female. It is somewhat surprising, to say the least.

Mr. Mime can only be female if it evolves from a Mime Jr. (I think).

The last line "My body isn't covered by any type of strange material" probably is trying to say that it isn't Shelgon.

But the waterfall, and the head thing, would still eliminate Shelgon.
