Well... I've discovered something of minor interest, but my account seems to have gone (forum crash presumably), so here I am again. Can't post a new thread though, I presume it's some anti-bot thing...

Here it is instead:

Topaz has been discovered by a Lets Play thread for Platinum on the Something Awful forums. Discussion starts here (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3281820&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=35) (near the bottom) and lasts a few pages.

They think Slowpriest is awesome, but should be renamed Slowpope.

Even though these posts are over a year old, it's nice to know that we have been getting noticed and posted about on forums as big as SA.

That slowpriest comic is just gold.

Edit: I just looked again at the dates and I realized I was looking at join dates, not the post dates. Not used to vB 2.2.9 (wow is that outdated or what).

Should we be flattered or insulted? I mean, the forum is called "something awful". :)

I'm glad we got some unbiased feedback on our current progress. Although it was mainly discussing the Pokemon sprites, it still gave us some insights on what we're doing right and how we can improve.

For example, the generic story. We're actually working on that right now, hopefully we can come up with something good.

Also, Something Awful is an extremely popular site, last I checked the 10th largest community on the internet.

Yeah, SA is one of the top visited boards on the Internet.

I'm not sure how we could improve on the story though? I would like more specific criticism than "it is generic." Too bad you have to pay to post there or something.

I can write pretty well but creative writing is a problem for me.

Oooh, I've been split.

Yeah, the sprites came up, as far as I can tell, because they were talking about a previous LP of Pokemon Quartz which had horrendously bad sprites. Anyway, Topaz came up as an example of good sprites, though they seem to think it's a hack.

I was over there reading it because their Pokemon LPs are pure awesome.

Incidentally, I don't know if anything was lost, so I'll post them all here just in case as I was just trawling through my photobucket;

I'm glad they think we have potential. To be completely honest I'm not super happy with the Engil/Duval concepts are the generic plotline, and we do have a lot of quadrupeds, especially wolves/dogs/cats.

The plotline is going to go through a revamp, though, hopefully it'll be more... inspiring :)

I went through the sprites and I think it is fine, there's a good balance except that the Wolfrost/Wolvine lines are pretty similar - even ending with similarly typed evos. I don't see anything wrong with Angel/Devil Pokemon, I mean there is a God Pokemon after all. >_>

Don't get me wrong, I love almost all of our Pokemon and sprites, and we have managed to give Malduval a pretty decent offbeat Pokedex Entry, which is nice.

"Hello. May I talk to you about our Lord and Savior Arceus?"
This amused me. And the comic almost made me cry laughing. <3 SA.

Edit: Forget the last edit, the entire topic is worth reading.
