Go for it! I know we dicussed some ideas for the HP bars, but I don't think we decided on anything.
We could also use the bags, modeled after the one on the sprites:

It's easier to see the female hero's bag, since it's in front of her instead of behind her.
We also need the back animation for the trainer, for when you first enter a battle and throw out a pokemon. I thought we had a set for the female (by MewLoverEX, if I'm not mistaken), but I can't find them anywhere.
I actually made that HP Bar. I'll get to the editinz and the animatinz on dem there trainers (/southerntalk). Time to actually do something for the project for once.

I took the liberty of an edited (by me) outline of the Emerald Bag. The shading and design is made by me. I'd point out the differences in the outline, but instead see for yourself:

I think the bag part looks great, but the strap doesn't really fit with what the sprite is carrying. She (we need to come up with some sort of default name) is wearing the bag over her shoulder, while the strap on your bag is meant to go around your waist.
Also, this bag doesn't really give a lot of room for separate pockets, does it? Maybe there could be some pockets inside the main part of the bag? I'm not sure how that would work.
Default Name Ideas:
Male - Tommy
Female - Pazia
Well the problem with it is there were no pockets on the sprite. It would be sort of stupid to provide something that was not on the sprite initially. I've had a bag similar that had internal pockets so maybe that could work. I digress.
As for the strap I kind of realized that. Like I said in the second edit, I will be working on the strap. Should I make it thicker than the FRLG strap?
Maybe a bit thicker. The FRLG one looks about the same thickness as the strap on the battle sprite.
Care to touch up on my disgrace to shading?

The bag looks a little boring... I'd rather make this more interesting and edit the sprite than go off of the sprite and have such a plain bag. If you come with an interesting design, we can incorporate it to the front sprite.
The HP bar is nice design-wise (It's simple, which is something I like), but the silver is a little blah. Can we try some kind of yellow? Or something with some colour.

I agree with Reli about the bar. I can't find the title screen, but I'll try to get a screenshot from my version of Triad tomorrow.
I didn't do the lettering (it looked pretty unreadable). Anyways I really like that gold. It worked out pretty well.
Edit: Once we get an HP Bar finalized, I will start working on the opponent one.
I like the color, but we should probably have some other color for the text. Maybe cyan or green?
I like it how it is TBH.
Cyan or Green would be too much brightness, all at once.
Sorry, I should have voiced it as an opinion. I'm usually good about that but I guess I'm losing my touch with trying to be inclusive as possible.
So yeah, we have a pretty bright yellow, so a bunch of bright colours with no borders between them could be a little harsh on the eyes I think. I don't think a darker green would work that well either.
Looks pretty good in battle! But to make it fit with FRLG battle screens, I had to decrease the height by 4 pixels.
The text ("LV," "HP," and "/") is still 1 pixel bigger than the other text. I don't know if it matters that much, it is definitely not important for "HP," since it's on a different level from other text and it's italicized.
Now that I take a look at it in battle I like the silver. Thanks for giving us a rough idea of what it would look like and what I need to change.
I now realize that the colors appear to have changed when I copied the image into paint... I'm not sure why. The darker shade disappeared entirely.
I prefer the default IMO. Why are we changing it again? Somethings aren't meant to be changed and I feel this is one of them. It removes some of the "Pokemon" feel of the game.
It's different in every game, and I think Topaz needs its own special touch.
Really? From fire red/leaf green to diamond/pearl I couldn't see a change.
EDIT: To clarify I'm talking about the health bar.
There was a change in D/P and FR/LG. There's a difference in almost every game.
Good idea. Although I'm gonna get some other colors after fixing it and put a poll on this thread. Now I don't like the yellow.
