Yes, but the site is freaking slow.

I'm not sure how well this story is going to go, but I'll 700 words in and haven't given up.

Okay, I started a Nano this year, and know that some of you guys have tried this as well. If any of you are doing it this year, maybe we can have a support thread here?
Here's my profile:

I don't have time either, but I'm still trying!
Fast approaching the 5000 mark!
Nice pace IB! I tried NanoWriMo once and I failed miserably, lol. My drive just pattered out around 15,000 words. And Reliability good luck with yours! I'm sure you'll be able to do it, just don't give up; that's never fun to do.
Maybe I'll give it another shot too.
What, exactly, is it?
I tried before too and realized that 2nd person is too hard to write long stories with.
Basically you're supposed to write a 50 000 word novel in the month of November (NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth - NANOWRIMO), which is approximately 1667 words per day. It's hard but it's fun if you do it with other people.
Falling even farther behind.
In order to complete the challenge, I would need 1800 words a day to finish on time.
To finish the challenge I'VE set for myself, I only need 1030.
Neither are looking good. But I think I've got a plan, so I know basically where things are going to go. The only issue is that I'm falling into a trap: I want to make sure the words that I out down are relatively good and are the RIGHT WORDS for the purpose and I'm trying to pace my novella correctly, which means that I go a lot slower because of all the editing I do. BUT, the language and devices I'm putting in aren't amazing. I would like even more time to make each paragraph awesome and meaningful, but I have to sacrifice some flare since I do have to get SOMETHING done each day.
In short, I'm going to finish a shortened version of the actual challenge with something that I'm not completely happy with. I'm not thrilled, but I'm not upset either. :/
Well, Reliability, 30 000 words is still quite an achievement, so good luck on that. Quality over quantity is a perfectly acceptable reason to cut back. Remember, December is National Novel Editing Month (Nanoedmo), for which to turn all your prose into something you're more happy with.
And there's 6784.
8518 as of now. This is fun so far, no writer's block the whole time!
Nice job IB! And Reli, like IB said, December is dedicated to editting all that you write this month so keep that in mind if you wanna progress farther along. When I did nanowrimo, all I did was write - I didn't back edit, reread, or change anything during November. Of course, December was full of me going "what was I thinking.." and "this doesn't make sense at all!" when I went back to edit my 15kish words.
I still look back, it's a great way to add words. "Oh! I can justify what I've just written with something here!" /+500
10197 as of today.
11 914 words! One of my writing buddy's still at 8500. I hope she's not given up...
The site's a lot faster now that it crashed and recovered. 13611
15312. I realize I haven't actually gotten to most of the action yet. Better get started now.
Hooty-hoot. Keep it up!

Keep up the great work, IB! When you finish, I'd love to read your book. Reli, a novella would still be a big achievement. Good luck to both of you.
Will have to try NaNoWriMo one of these times. Not sure if I would be able to finish a novel in a month, though. I'm just now at 16.3K on one that I've been working on on and off since Jan. [Although, working on more than one at the same time will do that to you.]
I stumbled a bit yesterday and didn't write anything but today I've made up for most of it. I haven't finished today's quota yet but am at 33 913 which is about 59 pages on Word at Calibri 11.
I'm honestly not sure if I'm comfortable sharing it yet. I have this feeling someone's going to read it and find out something scary about me. I'll probably get over it once it's done though.
Sorry to hear that. I definitely wouldn't have been able to write that much, especially with how slow I type.
I feel that way about my writing sometimes. The worst is when you are sharing with people that you know, like your friends or family. I'm always paranoid that if I share writing with someone they will see you different, or say, "wow, I didn't know that he was a depressed wacko with dual personalities." (Which I'm not. Or at least, I think that I'm not. If I am, please let me know. I will agree that I might be a wacko, but if I wasn't, then I would never be a good writer, now would I?) I don't know if that was the feeling that you were talking about, but it seems like a similar idea.
Hit 40000 yesterday evening. Just 6 more days!
Closing for the night at 41749. I'm really grateful for how supportive you've all been. It's nice how whenever you're shooting for something special there's so little negativity that goes around.
Now that you can win though, when I see people with their shiny 50 000 word count I don't know whether to be inspired or dismayed.
Go with inspired. It tends to turn out better that way.
Thanks! The story itself isn't done but I don't think I'll be touching it for a while. I really need to finally get a good night's sleep.
Great job!
Excellent job, IB!

Yeah good luck! I... really need to have a plan going in if I want to try it again. Mine was pretty terrible.
Why don't you occasionally update with your word count here so we can cheer you on?
When I did NaNo I found that instead of doing a marathon session to make up for a lost one, generally the best idea was just to resplit the rest of the words across the time you have left. Missing a day doesn't feel so bad when you only need to write 50 or so more every day.
Out of interest, what genre are you writing in?
