MANKEY becomes enraged by the slightest changes to its direct vicinity. If it is angered, it will continue thrashing until it becomes too exhausted to carry on.

Random suggestion: MANKEY is an ill-tempered Pokemon prone to extreme violence. Travelers are warned to avoid them for fear of triggering their wrath.

MANKEY's appearance is invariably the picture of total outrage, regardless of its mood. Handlers are taught to look for shaking and listen for snorting as warning signs for imminent rampaging.

Maybe? Just throwing another idea out there because 2 isn't really very many.

People who have encountered MANKEY in their travels will know how vicious one can get when angered. Groups of these POKEMON will sometimes team up to atttack a lost traveller and steal anything that they find.

Just another suggestion. Maybe a little too long?

Well, I tend to vote along with the consensus for the sake of completion but I'm not feeling any of those entries. I like all the concepts, but the entries are too wordy and need to be rephrased.

It is very common for unsuspecting travelers to be attacked by a MANKEY while wandering through a forest. It is not difficult to predict a MANKEY attack, but most travelers tend to ignore the warning signs.

That seems a bit vague to me. Perhaps some info about how it attacks or an explanation of the warning signs would help.

MANKEY are aggravated very easily by any slight change in their environment. They are often found hiding in tall grass and trees, and will savagely attack other POKEMON if they feel provoked.

Maybe someone should make a Pokedex entry about them interacting with other Mankeys and getting angry at them for some reason or another.

MANKEY are known for fierce territorial rivalries. Though they will attack other POKEMON only if provoked, a roaming MANKEY will not be tolerated if it crosses an opposing tribe.

Doesn't it seem like this would work with Canileaf, or Tundrolf, or Serberine, Growlithe or any of the not-so-happy territorial-looking Pokemon? As such, I'm not a big fan of the tribal wars idea.

I was just going off of the thread that seemed to be developing. Realistically, there are other places we can go with the entry.

Tribes of MANKEY often do not have a single leader, preferring to operate as a group. Their ferocity towards others is often linked to group rather than individual interest.

sounds kinda like how your average raging mob works, from Psychology's point of view. I'm a wait till more discussion before voting, however.

Still seems too non-specific. I don't feel as if I understand Mankey better because of the entry.

MANKEY will attack any POKEMON or human, even if victory is nearly impossible, in defence of its tribe. Individual interest is often placed behind the interest of the group.

I'm really stuck on this idea. It would be awesome if someone else could come up one here, based on something else.

    What about:

It has been observed that MANKEY can sense anger of another a certain distance away. Though it may seem irrationally angry, it is theorized that it is sympathetic, similar to tuning forks.

A word or two long, though. And a little awkwardly worded.

On its own, a MANKEY is not likely to become enraged. However when travelling in packs, MANKEY's anger resonates throughout, amplifying it and driving the pack into a violent frenzy.

    Meh :/

I liked this and want to run with it.

MANKEY will attack any POKEMON in defense of its tribe, even if victory is seemingly impossible. This has caused a ferocious reputation for this POKEMON among trainers.
A bit weak on the second sentence but I think we can work on it?

Perhaps "Trainers seek out this POKEMON due to its ferocious reputation in battle" ?

Content wise I think it's extraordinarily generic, actually. Relentless is a trait that has been suggested on far too many Pokemon. Also you can apply either to nearly any Pokemon:

WOLVINE will attack any POKEMON in defense of its tribe, even if victory is seemingly impossible. This has caused a ferocious reputation for this POKEMON among trainers.
GROWLITHE will attack any POKEMON in defense of its tribe, even if victory is seemingly impossible. This has caused a ferocious reputation for this POKEMON among trainers.
ZUBAT will attack any POKEMON in defense of its tribe, even if victory is seemingly impossible. This has caused a ferocious reputation for this POKEMON among trainers.
HOUNDOOM will attack any POKEMON in defense of its tribe, even if victory is seemingly impossible. Trainers seek out this POKEMON due to its ferocious reputation in battle.

well, none of those pokemon have tribes though. Packs, or swarms, in Zubat's case, but not tribes.

Wolvine and Houndoom would have packs. And the difference between a tribe and a pack isn't nearly enough for me. (Though if it's enough for you then Bakurge says hello.)

I dunno, Packs seem more geared toward quadrupeds, while Tribes are more geared toward Bipeds, like Mankey. It's just me, probably, but Idc

Tribes of MANKEY will pick a single tree to live in. The areas directly around these trees are consistently devoid of other POKEMON species.

A tribe of MANKEY will pick a single tree to live in. The POKEMON that live in the areas around the tree will be forced to move to somewhere else due to the fear of being attacked by the MANKEY tribe.

Not bad. You can remove everything after "attacked" since it's already implied. That will shorten it a bit. Otherwise a couple of grammar edits.

Actually I think that was already implied since Konrad's. I liked it since it was so mysterious, but mysterious isn't encyclopedic. Then cranky came up with the real content, all I did was edit for grammar and length.

    Thanks anyway

    Okay.

Mankey: A tribe of MANKEY will pick a single tree to live in. The POKEMON that live in the areas around the tree are forced to move somewhere else due to fear of being attacked.
